Use CB Captcha 2.x (in doc subscribers downloads), which is compatible with CB 1.2 RC 4, and goes around other bugs that you may have in your site and affecting version 1.x of Captcha.

I had problems with captcha too because image didn't show up. I am using slovenian language plugin.

I found solution with combination of this forum and some others.

I had some hidden letter at the beginning of the slovenian.php file (something like this ""). When i opened it in EditPlus those letters didn't show up they only appeared when I tried to edit file in CuteFTP.

I fixed the problem by opening slovenian.php file in EditPlus, went to Tools-Preferences-Files. My default encoding is UTF-8. I changed settings in UTF-8 signature from "Preserve existing signature" to "Always remove signature", saved file and uploaded it.

Now CB captcha works great. I hope this will help you.

Regards,
Grega

***OLD POST ***
Hack to use the cb Captcha on the Joomla
Contact form

This worked for me, your experience may vary.

Joomla version 1.0.12
CB version: 1.0.2
CB Captcha plugin version: 1.0 (14.Feb.2007)

Files to hack:

/components/com_comprofiler/plugin/user/plug_cbcaptcha/cb.captcha.php
/components/com_contact/contact.html.php
/components/com_contact/contact.php
********

Would this hack work for CB Contacts??
