You should also consult your CBSubs documentation.

Settings -> General

Allow Free Registered Users (without subscriptions):

should be set to Yes.

Got PM.

First issue is that you did not turn off Joomla registrations (I did this for you in Global parameters), this way users could be registering via Joomla process if they figure out the URL.

Please test again and let me know if you still have this issue.

follow-up for others reading.

The reason this user could not login is because the password entered was wrong and your template was not showing the Joomla error message.

If you switch to Joomla default template you will see the error message - ask your template provider to fix your template.
