Ajax E-mail check backend

Ajax E-mail check backend was created by some1new
Tried to set up a new user in backend

Ajax e-mail check is disabled in configuration.
Setting up the new user from backend leads to an immediate check of e-mail although this is disabled.

CB 1.4
J 1.6.3

Any ideas?

EDIT: Just found another thread facing the same issue, was reported 3 months ago and no hint how to solve that up to now!!!

Backend check cannot be disabled.

I believe a quick fix has been posted to forums to address long delay.

Thanks for your fast reply.

It´s not a problem of delay. As soon as I click to safe changes, I get the message E-Mailcheck not possible within seconds. After that the system jumps to mainpage of backend from joomla and not back to Usermanagement of CB.

The delay is associated with the ajax checking - wait for it to complete and then click save button.

No, that´s not the problem.

I receive this message:

A few seconds later I´m redirected to the mainpage of J1.6 backend.
