(SOLVED) Email Notification Umlaut problem

16 years 2 months ago #57308 by derelvis
Hi,

I have the problem that within the subject from the email notification of uddeim the umlaut "ü" is not displayed correctly. What I get is "Nachrichten fXr dich auf...". So "ü" is exchanged by "X". Does anybody have the same problem or even know how to solve it?

Here are my settings:

Template: encoding="iso-8859-1"

Thanks for any hint!

Strange, can you check the mail headers please? Or post better post the headers here.

There shouldn't be any problems when the German Latin-1 language file is used since no characters are changed.

Maybe its a problem with the mail client? Which client do you use?

Ha, that's it. You gave me the right kick ;)
But I think it's not the mail client but my mailserver or one instance in the whole queue.

Here is some content of the mail header:
[code:1]X-Spam-Status: No, score=1.2 required=6.0 tests=AWL,MISSING_MIMEOLE,
SUBJECT_NEEDS_ENCODING autolearn=no version=3.2.3
....
X-Amavis-Alert: BAD HEADER, Non-encoded 8-bit data (char FC hex): Subject:
Nachrichten f\374r dich auf xxx
....
Date: Fri, 22 Feb 2008 07:56:06 +0100
....
Subject: Nachrichten fXr dich auf xxx
MIME-Version: 1.0
Content-type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1
....
Content-Transfer-encoding: 8bit
....
X-Mailer: Microsoft Office Outlook, Build 11.0.5510
....
tests= MISSING_MIMEOLE SUBJECT_NEEDS_ENCODING
....[/code:1]
So you can see, I'm using the same client as you ;-)
The Amavis line seems the first one with wrong subject. Perhaps I have to look at its configuration.

When I check the headers of the mail which comes from the "official" mail server everything is correct.

Thank you and sorry for bothering you with this kind of private problem :S

At least thank you very much for taking care of the uddeim project. It's really the very best around there! Good work!!

Just not to spread rumors about my mail client: I am not using Outlook. I am a Mozilla /Thunderbird user from the very first ;)

The outlook line is inserted by uddeIM. I really have to change this in the next version.
