When I tried to upload the very large package file com_uddeim10.zip (1610KB) in the Joomla Extension Manager, I got the message after about 40 seconds:

Fatal error: maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in /public_html/libraries/joomla/filesystem/archive/zip.php on line 314

Please advise me of a proper solution.

Mayby you have tell more about your system?

php.ini or .htaccess (how apache running?) file add something like this...

max_execution_time = 180
max_input_time = 180
memory_limit = 32M
log_errors_max_len = 6048

Well, it seems that your server is too slow/busy. You can ask your provider to give you more CPU time.

You can remove the template folder from the archive - don't forget to remove also all corresponding lines from the XML file - and try to upload the package. The removed templates can be uploaded by ftp.
