Hello,

all I am in desperate need of help. The members of my site really need to be able to point people to their profiles using their own urls.

eg. www.my site.com/memberusername.

I have tried to use the profile url plugin, however I have not been successful even after trying the instructions that the developer provides to insert a line into the htaccess.txt file in the root. I keep getting the 404 page not found error.

I have also read multiple post in the forum and tried to copy ideas of how other people have configured their htaccess file, but NOTHING works for me.

Most of the ideas suggest that I insert certain lines of code and rename my htaccess.txt. to .htaccess, but when I do this my entire site disappears, and I have been told by my host that I cannot change the name in this way.

If anyone has experience with this, I either need step by step instructions on how to redirect from the error page or I need someone to tell me how to edit my htaccess file so that I can have this functionality on my site. Below is a copy of my htaccess.txt file. Thank you.

Same here - could never get it to work.

Can a Joomla and CB guru please post a full how to get profile URL to work for us dummies please.

I have tried in vane to get it to work, editing the .htaccess file etc and so on as posted on these forums but have not been able to get it to work - I can see the URL but clicking on it gets the 404 error and the Error Doc text added to the .htaccess file appears to not work.

It may have something to do with Artio joomSef (I use an older 1.5.1 version) - if so is there a way around it to get it to work - please please please
