I guess I never paid any attention to this until I installed sh404sef but I noticed that when a member registers they can create a username with spaces in it.

This is a nightmare for pulling profiles by username using short urls. sh404sef replaces the space with a dash but from my chat applet it pulls by username so the - doesn't get added into the url causing a 404 error.

Is there any way to set cb up to not allow spaces in usernames? I can't believe spaces were ever allowed in a username to begin with.

I ended up hacking the CB core file with a javascript to prevent just what you are talking about so that my user's URLS (thegolfspace.com/user) would work right.

The new version of CB will fix this but there's a bug they need to fix in which that feature isn't displayed in the back end (or at least it is displayed for a fraction of a second before it disappears).

Do you happen to have the script that you used and exactly which file you put it in?

You can try the attached CB core file. Backup your old one so you can get it back if it doesn't work.

I also had to disable the ajax username checker in the CB config so do that.

Thanks, where is the cb.core file at though? I can't seem to find it.
