Hopefully this isn't a silly question. I was wondering what its purpose is and if needs to be published, etc.

thanks.

it is used basically to display joomla user parameters in profiles.
timezone, language, help etc.

So if displaying parameters aren't necessary the filed can remain unpublished?

I would leave it published but turn off the feature form the:

Allow user to edit his CMS parameters in frontend

parameter in the CB Configuration profile tab.

Sounds good. I'm pretty new to Joomla1.7 and not sure where I go to fix the error referred to in this image, now that I have set the CMS to no. Can you direct me to the right place?

looks like you are using Joomla 1.5?

If so your global parameters -> system settings have a Joomla parameter:

Front End User Parameters which is set to Show.

So the Warning message you are seeing is just telling you that the CB setting is not agreeing with the Joomla setting.

oops sorry you did say Joomla 1.7.

The parameter is in the Options area of your Joomla User Manager.
