I'd like to change this message text: "Please log in or register to view or modify your profile" I'd like to make it something more specific to my site. Where can I find this text to change it?

Language file.
Assuming that you are on CB 1.4.
Download English language package from here:
forge.joomlapolis.com/projects/lan-cb-en/files
Unzip and edit the language.php file.
Find line #374:
DEFINE('_UE_REGISTERFORPROFILE','Please log in or register to view or modify your profile.');
and modify wording yo your liking.
Rezip and install as CB PLugin.
