Uploading VERY large media file

My question: Is there a way to upload a VERY large file to the appropriate folder using an FTP client and have it work?

Here's why I'm asking:

OK, my friend is working on a site using Nant's gallery, and we need to upload a very large media file.

1. We've increased the storage quota so it's far larger than the file we're uploading.

2. We've increased the single-image upload quota so it's far larger than the image we're uploading.

3. For the heck of it, we increased the login and site login times to a jillion seconds to make sure we wouldn't get timed out.

But it still doesn't seem to be working. After failed upload attempts, we checked the folder through our FTP client and didn't see any media files or fragments of media files. For the record:

Joomla 1.0.8
CB 1.0 stable
Apache
PHP 4
And we're trying to upload a 19 meg mov file. We've uploaded smaller mov files with no problems.

Thanks!!!

Sometimes there is server limit on what you can upload, size. also php it querky handeling large file. i would check with your hosting provider.

Also remember that nants gallery is a basic gallery and not as robust as other galleries out there.

Steve is right.

upload_max_filesize in the php.ini file sets the max upload size.

Guys,

Just wanted to drop in and say thanks again for the help. I've persuaded this client to work with a smaller media file. :)

You might be able to override the upload limit in your .htaccess file. Look here.
