Could be but I think the main thing there is to have the correct table... keep phpbb's prefix at phpbb_ and Joomla's at jos_ ... they can be different but make sure each is unique... makes it easier to cleanup, backup, or remove later...and helps prevent overwrites...

The database, username, and password should be that of the database itself (not a Joomla username or password)

Use the same info you did to install Joomla...

Then continue to get phpBB working by itself first then try to connect to Joomla...

am trying to find the config file that someone mentioned in another topic,

could this have something to do with it as well

If you are re-installing phpbb it will put the necessary tables in the database... If you copy the tables beware that some like the phpbb_config table have database specific info... i.e. a straight copy will cause problems with that table as it will still look at the old phpbb site...

I highly recommend re-installing phpbb if you don't have a lot of posts, etc in the forum already... much easier than copying tables and updating the tables...
