I upgraded to RC2 as suggested and tried the install again.

I'm getting a different error ythis time:

* JFTP::store: Bad response
* Warning! - Failed to move file
* JFTP::mkdir: Bad response
* JFTP::chmod: Bad response
* Unable to create destination

Is there some way just to do this manually?

Thanks
Greg

Joomla 1.5:

Upgrade to latest SVN or nighlty build. RC2 proved to be quite buggy. See our article and thread.

You also need to upgrade database when going from beta or RC1 ot RC2.

Installed: Joomla 1.5 RC3
Legacy: On
FTP: Permissions setup correctly
Database Version: 4.1.22-standard
PHP Version: 4.4.4
Web Server: Apache 3
Joomla! Version: Joomla! 1.5.0 Production/Stable [ Takriban ] 5-October-2007 21:00 GMT

When uploading com_comprofiler.zip I get;

JFTP : : store: Bad response
Warning! - Failed to move file

(spaces added between colons to prevent smiley faces)

I've no idea what to do now, have googled and read and downloaded pdf's, and help files but am a bit stumped.

Any ideas would help, cheers.

I've found that if I use Windows Explorer FTP feature (not Internet Explorer) under Vista (yeah, tell me about it!) then even though it shows the CHMOD permissions as having been changed to 777 in the relevant directory it does not, repeat DOES NOT change them to that on the server. I just logged in through my XP machine using WS_FTP and used that to set permissions and it was showing that the directories I'd changed on my other (Vista) machine to 777 were actually set to their original settings (707 or 700 I think).
I went into my site admin, uploaded com_comprofiler.zip and it installed first time.

So, moral of the story; if Windows Explorer FTP says it has updated the CHMOD Permissions try using a proper FTP client and checking it.
