Captcha and GD1

Captcha and GD1 was created by jlawless
I have searched and can't quite find the answer. I have CB1.1 installed and working fine. I tried to install Captcha 2.0 but I am having problems with the security image. When I check my CB config manager, under images, I have GD2 installed, autodetected, bundled (2.0.28 compatible) but not GD1. I am not sure where to go from here. Thanks.

Need more information - do you see the image in plugin backend?

Thanks for the reply. The image is not in the backend but I suspect I don't have the Freetype engine. I am asking my server host if I have it and if not to install it. I am not sure if I have the capability to do it myself.

Yup - that would do it.

My server host has refused to help with the Freetype font engine. In fact my host, JKA Hosting, has been very unhelpful when trying to deal with a variety of issues around my Joomla site. I am leaving them to find another host that is more friendly. Regardless, thanks for the help.

I have switched to a host that has Freetype and the picture is not showing on the front end and back end. I tried the following hack but it has not worked:

global $mosConfig_live_site;

$basegetarray = array('user' => null, 'Itemid' => 1 );
$CaptchaImage = '<img src="components/com_comprofiler/plugin/user/plug_cbcaptcha/picture.php" />';

The only apparent change is that the field in which there should be letters has dminished in width. Any ideas?
