Access Problems

Getting some access problems.
The other week I upgraded a sites CB from 1.0 to the latest stable 1.2 (so I assume RC4) and since I did that we've got a problem.
Every time I try to view content set to "public" I get:
You are not authorised to view this resource.
You need to login.
This is a fairly major issue as we need that information viewable to the public.
Is this problem likely to be caused by CB1.2?

But thanks anyway, you've given more information so I can narrow my search down.
ETA: Found a few posts referencing instructions in the readme file on creating a public menu for com builder. Just thought I'd point out that my readme file has no such instructions.
Also, We're running Joomla 1.0 - the legacy issue is only for 1.5 isn't it?

I did search, and most of the results I found simply said "This has been answered before, do a search"

If your content is really set to public then the problem is not CB - it is purely Joomla related.

After some extensive searching I think you're correct. The other people who had similar issues only had issues on a few pages, mostly the login and rego page. For us, both of those work (mostly) but other content doesn't.
Another Q, a member of the site reckons his password was only 5 characters before the upgrade yet it won't accept it now as it wants a 6 character password. Does 1.2 only accept passwords over 6 characters in length?
