Hi,
although I'm quite familar with CB and used it long time ago I need to ask this question.

Is it possible to test registration forms without enabling them to public?
So before allowing users to register?

Did not fiond any hint on this.

Regards
Oliver

P.S.: I don't want to take the website offline

Two ways I can think of:

1. Protect your site folder with htaccess method
2. Add an extra field on the registration form that has to validate to a specific value only you know - this way you can test things.

In the Joomla backend, add a new menu, name it e.g "hidden". Do not publish it in any module or else.

Under the new menu, create menu items for CB and give them unique aliases which are unlikely to be "tried" by outsiders, e.g. "cb-test-register", "cb-test-profile", etc.

This way you create pages and links to them which do not show anywhere on your site, so you can use and test everything without involving your site visitors.

If you have Joomla SEF and URL Rewriting turned on, you can now access CB in the frontend by entering www.yoursite.com/cb-test-registering and similar.
Without Rewriting you'll find the correct links when editing the menu items under "Link".

thx,

www.website.com/?option=com_comprofiler&view=registers

does work to, so if anybody knows that cb is used he can call it this way, too.

Not very fine, so the "secret" alias is not very efficient ;-)

In this case I think method 2 from nant, thx, is best case to avoid registration as long it is in testing proccess

What type of field do I have to set up for something like this?

Yes, that's the "non-SEF" URL, as I had indicated already. It'll always work, also with SEF and URL Rewriting turned on.

Made a quick and dirty protection with invite code as mandatory.

So no one can register right now without invitation
