[SOLVED] Another Registration issue. "Session Expired"

13 years 4 months ago #148431 by kersten
I love this component! Would be great to get this resolved. I've read back and tried a few options listed here but, alas, I am stuck.

CB Ver: 1.3.1
Joomla: 1.5.9
Page affected: www.refreshedit.com/index.php/your-web-castevent-profile

Here is the error:
"Session expired or cookies are not enabled in your browser. Please press "reload page" in your browser, and enable cookies in your browser"

It's occuring in Ajax email and username validation check. When I disable Ajax the error occurs when I click SUBMIT. So that's no fix.

I do have 2 menu items pointing to a registration page. Not sure if this might be a cause or not. Can't find documentation revealing a fix.

Other parameters:
Allow User Registration: Independantly
Ajax UN/EMail: ON/Only for email server
Show Login on Reg Page: No

per recommended fix: www.joomlapolis.com/component/option,com_joomlaboard/Itemid,/func,view/catid,144/id,147822/#147822
I tried the recommended fix by "beat" changing plugin.foundation.php

define( '_CB_SPOOFCHECKS', 1 );
to
define( '_CB_SPOOFCHECKS', 0 );

But this did not work.

Can anyone offer some assistance?

Thanks in advance to the team.

I have the same problem: "Session expired or cookies are not enabled in your browser. Please press "reload page" in your browser, and enable cookies in your browser. Please refresh/reload page before filling-in. " - at: www.viata-virtuala.com/Log-yourself-in.html

After searhing on the web i found this answers:
a) Remove the sscanf string from the disable_functions at php.ini* file
b) Ask your hosting provider to remove the string above if you don't have an access to the php.ini* file
c) Change hosting provider which allows the running of the sscanf function.

Still searching, if i cant find a better solution, i`ll chose the "b)" option.

sscanf is used to help validate the string, if this is disabled via PHP then you won't be able to validate spoof strings. Disabling spoof checking should stop the checking of spoof strings and sscanf won't be of issue. If disabling the spoof checking and still having session problems then there's likely a conflict of some sort that is writing to sessions.

Please to help us better understand and debug this issue (we can't duplicate locally) create a sub-folder or sub-domain with just Joomla + CB and confirm if issue is present. This will help rule out 3rd party conflicts and also give us a clean platform to investigate sense we can not duplicate it on our end.

Hi all

ok this problem is not releated to sscanf string
simply you need to disable joomla standard cache in global configuration and set off the joomla cache plugin (in plugin manager) than clean the joomla cache and reload the registration page... that's all

That worked for me last month. Another user reported this happening again today. I had to clear everything out according to bioboy. Please advise how to stop this from happening again. I had my session lifetime set to 3600. Was that too high? I'm testing with 1800 to see if this still happens at a later time or not.

Thanks, Bioboy.

fmounts

this problem is not really releated to session it is a simple cache problem( the session is expired in cache not in your live configuration)
simply you can't use joomla cache with CB (both cache plugin and general setting cache) you can solve with a little component and plugin named jotcache
after installation you need to open jotcache component and exclude com_comprofiler
i trust this can solve all your problems... ;)
