I never changed the core and I DON'T INTEND TO. What a pain every time there's an upgrade to have to recode! YUK.

The search works great for me as long as I reinstall it AFTER all the fields I want are created.

Mm, ok I installed the component - success, but how can I access the search functions? I tried adding a component link to Component - Advanced Search Component but always returned the same error whenever I try to do so, is there a fix to this?

The error is
Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object in ....../com_cb_search/cb_search.class.php on line 157

The advanced search component is your answer. There is currently a version 1.0 floating around which would do the job and the new version is coming soon. You can see it in action on my site: www.thegolfspace.com
