Well after more tests it seems like the auto action itself does not set the hiding.
It’s working fine, no debug messages but just fails to override hiding the edit menu or even the full menu

Wrong !
In fact that was the debug function of the auto action which was the problem

Very strange turning on debug mode would cause that to fail. Debug mode just prevents errors from suppressing. Will review the debug checks and see if any are having issues.
