redirection of log in

hi
i have absolutely no idea why this is happening as i have not changed anything!
but my log in is redirecting the users to a completely random page & i have no idea why. when i try to log into the site it sends me to a url
www.mydomain.com/index.php/members-area/component/eventbooking/
the redirect is set to this:
index.php/members-area
so when they log in it goes to a 404 page. here is the weird part.....each time i recreate the module (cb login) it will work properly for several minutes & then when i check 10mins or so later, it is doing the same thing all over again. so then i have to unpublish the module & recreate it. then it works again.
im sorry to ask!!! could you please guide me to fix this as it will really do my business a lot of harm. i will be happy to pay you for any time

also when i try to log in, sometimes it will not even log me in at all. it just redirects to the correct page, but i am still not logged in.

Do not use SEF links as your login redirects. Turn off SEF and find what URLs you'd like to redirect to beginning with index.php and use those as your login redirect then turn SEF back on. You could have a redirect set in your CBSubs plans on the workflows tab or within your CB Login page, it's hard to know so you'll need to review them all and see where it's coming from. If you've Joomla caching enable please purge and disable it then see if issue persists.
