CB Subs not controlling hwdMediaShare Upload

9 years 9 months ago #246609 by stuntlist
Hi,

We have a Joomla 3.3.1 site with CB 1.9.1, CB Subs 3.0 and hwdMediaShare 1.1.4.

We have a number of plans, every user gets the unpaid plan which is a free non-expiring plan. Then the members can purchase various levels of subscriptions. I have set 4 of the paid plans to have CB Subs control the Upload menu item. Under Integrations > Content > By Menu I have selected the Upload menu item. This doesn't stop unpaid free users from being able to upload videos.

So, under Integrations >Extensions > By URL Parts I added:
option=com_hwdmediashare&view=upload

This hasn't helped either, unpaid users are still able to upload videos.

In hwdMediaShare Configuration > Permission if I have Registered (Joomla) set to Inherit, which defaults to Not Allowed, if I try to go to the Upload page I get the message that you need a subscription to use this feature. But then if I login as a Paid member I can't upload a video because hwdMedia puts out a message that you are not authorized to do this. As soon as I turn the permission to Allow, the all Registered users can upload videos and the unpaid user no longer gets the message that they need a subscription to use the feature.

I don't know what else to try to stop unpaid users from being able to upload and paid users to be able to upload.

Any ideas?

Thanks

I have no experience with this mediashare extension.

Suggest you turn off SEF and paste here the exact URL you do not want free members to access.

For By URL Part to work you need to also have the CBSubs Bot installed and enabled. You should see it within Extensions > Plug-in Manager as a System plugin. If it's not there then be sure to install it from the CBSubs package. Also ensure CBSubs Content within CB > Plugin Management is enabled so the By URL Part protection can take affect. Note certain groups can be made exempt from CBSubs Content protection, which you can adjust within CBSubs > Settings > Integrations > Content/Extensions.

Hi Kyle,

Thank you for the suggestions. CBSubs Content is installed and enabled and cbpaidsubsbot is installed and enabled.

This is the non-sef url for the upload page: /index.php?option=com_hwdmediashare&view=upload

Also finding that we are having the same problem with JoomGallery 3.1.1 on the Joomla 3.3.1 site. CB Subs is no longer controlling who can upload photos.

Any other ideas?

Thank you.

To protect that URL you'd need to protect the below.

option=com_hwdmediashare&view=upload

I can't see any reason it wouldn't work unless there was some sort of router conflict or maybe a 3rd party SEF extension altering the URLs and CBSubs is unable to pick them up.

Hi,

We don't have any 3rd party SEF, just using standard Joomla SEF.

In both extensions: hwdMediaShare and JoomGallery we have to set the ACL for Registered users to Allow uploads, editing, deleting. So, that ACL seems to be overriding the CB Subs control.

We have under Integrations >Extensions > By URL Parts:
option=com_hwdmediashare&view=upload

It looks like CB Subs is not controlling lists or reports either via menu items or URL parts. I have a number of menu items set to be controlled by the Coordinator plan, but if I am logged in as a normal subscriber I can go to those URLs and am not given any message about not being allowed. The report or list is displayed.

We are trying to go live with this site tomorrow, so need to get this solved.

Thanks.
