To load countries and cities in combox inside a fo

14 years 1 month ago #125981 by danielssj88
Hello,
I have the following problem, in the formualrio of record I must add two new fields that are country and city, in countries this one must to me load the information of countries stored inside a database in a combobox and the same thing must do it in cities in the bent one but with cities loaded from a database.

And on having selected a country in the this combobox it(he,she) must to me load the cities in the combobox of cities corresponding to this country.

Example:

If in the combobox of country I select France this one must to me list in the combobox of cities all the cities of francia.

From already thank you very much.

The term used for this feature is 'conditional field'.

Unfortunately this feature does not exist in CB core but could be implemented as a field plugin.

I am not aware of such an implementation at the moment.

Hi Nant, this topic has come up again and again. I would be willing to donate a CB Plugin for this. Would you give some pointers on the CB API features necessary for this?

There is a plugin called country-and-state-dropdown-fields-plugin which loads a state dropdown-list depending on the country you select. The plugin seems to be a sublicence of this script and is offered for USD 5,95 under a GNU/GPL version 2 license.

royce might be able to build the original script into a free CB plugin .. ? :-)

The usage of Ajax in fields can be seen in the CB Ajax Text fieldtype plugin and File fieldtype plugin. They should be able to assist in coding in the right direction. We've big plans for CB 2.0 however which we'll certainly be reviewing the aspect of conditional fields.
