[SOLVED] Permissions on certain fields

Hi,
is there a possibility to grant permissions on certain fields?
I would like to allow members belonging to a Joomla 1.6 group called "Basic members" to edit only basic fields while members of a "Advanced Members" can edit more fields.

Field permissions are based off Tab permissions. To do what you're wanting you'd need to have 2 tabs, 1 for each usergroup, and place the fields of choice on those respective tabs. Ensure both tabs are in "not shown in profile" positions. Once done you'll need a 3rd tab that will have delimiter fields using substitutions to render those fields as tab permission is for viewing AND editing, so you need to display via delimiter for other usergroups to see the contents.

Thanks, I worked it out with the delimiter fields. But now I have the tabs shown twice in the editing area for the user. Once as the delimiter fields and once for editing...

With CB Privacy installed edit the tab with delimiter fields and set it to not show in profile edit. This would display only 1 (editable one) in profile edit.

Great, thanks a lot, I managed it all out. Nevertheless, I hope there will be an easier way in future releases like an additional column for front-end and back-end access in the tab manger.
