Your PHP.ini file needs to be at Joomla root as well as root/administrator. Those are the only 2 locations you should need PHP.ini. Please test and confirm if resolved after copying to those 2 locations.

I am also having the same problem that once I enable the CBSubs, I get the IonCube error. I am also on a 1&1 shared server with the php.ini installed in the directory (www.mysite.com/) as well as in the admin folder.

Could it be something wrong with my PHP.ini file?

Thanks for the advice.

I have just re-installed Joomla 1.7, CB 1.7 and went down to CB Subs 1.2 because of my version of PHP (which is PHP 5.2.17)

Everything installs correctly for Joomla / CB / CBSUBS and I also get the following message indicating that IonCube installed correctly:

*********************
Loader Installed Successfully

The ionCube Loader version 4.0.10 for PHP 5.2 is installed and encoded files should run
successfully.

Please note that if encoded files in a different directory from the Wizard fail then you should attempt to copy the php.ini file to each directory in which you have encoded files.
*********************

I have placed my php.ini in the root directory of the website as well as the administrator folder within the joomla root directory.

I am still getting the ioncube needs to be installed error when I try to register.

I wonder if it is as simple as doing what the ioncube loader told me: "Please note that if encoded files in a different directory from the Wizard fail then you should attempt to copy the php.ini file to each directory in which you have encoded files"

I know that you mentioned that the php only needs to be in the root and in the admin folder, but something is amiss.

Are there file folders that I can copy the php into in order to see if it will work? When I disable the CBSubs plugin from community builder, all works fine.

Thanks - Dave

Try installing the cbpaidsubsbot 1.2.2 (even if you are with CB 1.2 for the rest).

It contains an extra-loader that helps on some hostings.

beat - thanks for the suggestion. That did not work and I continute to get the following error:

The required free ionCube loader for your server type and php version is not installed. Please contact your hoster to install it for you, or visit ionCube free downloads page of ionCube loaders for the loader and instructions. In case of problems insalling the loader, please contact ionCube support directly after checking their support forum. Thanks.

I registered for a professional install and just got an email from Nick so I think I am just going to let you guys figure it out!! Thanks so much for the quick support.
