Post Affiliate Pro 4 not recognizing sale

15 years 1 month ago #95324 by palikari
Everything is working correctly and I have signed up live users.

Using PAP4 and it is running in a subdirectory on the site with a separate database (not the same DB as Joomla and Community Builder). I have configured PAP4 and Community Builder following the instructions included with the Sub plugins. I signed up two users using affiliate links and they were not credited to the affiliate account.

I downloaded and installed the Joomla PAP4 module and PAP4 is seeing clicks from Joomla on the affiliate links so I think PAP4 is configured correctly.

Any hints on what I should check next or a more detailed setup? I did make sure that the CB PAP4 plugin is published and it is pointing to the PAP4 URL on the CB Sub general configuration screen. I also made sure that the CB Sub plan was configured to use the default affiliate.

Many Thanks for purchasing CBSubs :)

And cool, nice to know that you are already live and that it works well with live users :)

Regarding PAP4 there are a few requisites that are needed to make it work fine. It actually runs fine on a live site that is listed in the testimonials page .

- the site URL should be set correctly in PAP so that cookies match

- PAP 4.1.11 or better should be used

- no need to be on same server, as it uses the new PAP API protocol

Maybe that helps, otherwise just reply :)

Worked on it a bit more but still no commisions.

I am running debug so I can check the PAP4 functions.

1. My end user goes to the site from an advertiser with the tracking URL (I am using mysite.com for privacy, the actual URL goes to my real domain):

www.mysite.com/?a_aid=testaff&a_bid=11110002

2. Then they click on the regular Community Builder "register" link on www.mysite.com.

3. They go to the Community Builder register page, select a plan and then click pay now.

4. It appears that the plugin is sending the registration request at this point through the PAP4 API.

Recognized parameters: TotalCost=12.00000,OrderID=265_1,ProductID=1,Debug=,data1=2009-04-17 00:43:51,data2=,data3=,data4=,data5=,AffiliateID=,CampaignID=11111111,Currency=,Commission=,Status=A

5. Then the user completes the payment at Paypal and returns to the main site.

When the user initially clinks the first link to take them to my site, a cookie is being set by PAP4 with the affiliate ID.

When they go to the registration page and fill it out, the plugin is sending the sales request.

Here is the question:

How does the Community Builder PAP4 plugin get the affiliate ID to PAP4? Does it read the cookie that was set?

It doesn't appear from the log that the sales request contains an affiliate ID and later log entries show that it can't determine the affiliate.

I think we are close ;)

Definitely a cookies issue, the cookie is missing in that request. :)

Means the site for which it sent by PAP doesn't match your site.

Check the PAP cookie setting and domain of cookie set in PAP.

Debug tools for that:

chec your links with Firefox Firebug or with the Firefox "Tamper Data" tool (views->sidebars->tamper data --> start Tamper) after installing it):

After more tests I disabled the PAP4 Joomla module.

I then set the affiliate ID as well as the campaign ID in the PAP4 integration section of the plan. When I completed a sale it showed under the affiliate's commission page. So it appears that the plugin is sending the data to PAP4.

So I think I have narrowed it down to the cookie not being read if the affiliate ID is not sent by the plugin.

Has the PAP4 plugin been tested without the affiliate ID being set on the plan itself?

Yes it has been tested without forced affiliate. It does function, but your cookie is not being set properly.

Then plugin does not touch the cookie. This is handled by PAP, but it won't pass through PAPs API if it can't find the cookie. Your cookie needs to match the site.

Look in Configuration -> Cookie in your PAP installation and ensure it is absolutely correct.

Also ensure your link to PAP in your global integration settings for CBSubs is correct. If the link is not correct then it will not work.
