We went away from this process for a bit however we have now returned to this and we are seeing the same issue. To answer your question, it does work if I upload from Profile edit. However, it is extremely user unfriendly for them to go through this process..
Is there a fix here at all? Thanks for your time as always..
Please check what version of CB File you are using. The latest is 1.6. If using an older version it's possible this is a bug, but I can't see why the notification would work in profile edit, but not with the ajax usage.

Are you making the field ajax with the built in file fields ajax functionality or are you making it ajax using CB Core Fields Ajax? As with CB Core Fields Ajax it may not send a notification. Beyond that there's not much I can advise as that plugin is completely gone and has merged into CB 2.0 core as a core fieldtype where it has no notification features (notification can be sent by acting on onAfterUserFileUpdate trigger using CB Auto Actions).

I am using the CB Ajax File fieldtype plugin that we purchased in addition to CBSubs.. there doesn't seem to be much point to this plugin if the basic function of email notification is not working.
The notification feature is only 10% of the fields purpose. Its purpose is to allow file uploads. Nothing more than that. The notification is gone with release of CB 2.0 and can be added using a Email action with CB Auto Actions. Aside from that there's not much I can advise as I can't fix a plugin that is already completely rewritten and moved into CBs core. If the notification is working fine from profile edit then I recommend just not using the ajax feature.
