CBsubs register for free trial without credit card

10 years 6 months ago #234527 by txstate05
I have been working on this for a while and I am trying to determine the best way of letting users sign up with no credit card. I have a free trial subscription and 3 other paid subscriptions. This seems to work fine until their subscription ends and they are allowed to "upgrade" to the free trial again (thus never having to pay). These other paid plans have free trials associated with them but they are prompted to signup through paypal - and create a paypal account if they don't have one yet.

My product is for a niche market so I don't mind doing some manual changes because I am contacting these users personally.

Any help is much appreciated.

Ok, right after I opened this topic I noticed that you can disallow "Allow upgrade to this plan". That should do the trick.

Before I end the conversation, what do you think the best way to have users register without credit card? Is a separate free plan the best way to go?

I may be off here but I don't want to force them to enter credit card info just to register.

Create a free plan, which will activate instantly and never ask them for any further information.

Replied by LukeDouglas on topic CBsubs register for free trial without credit card
Kyle,

I read the instructions where you can create a plan that would not be viewable. I have a client that wants to give out trial 30-day subscriptions but do not want users to sign up for a free trial subscription. At the end of the 30 day period, he wants them to have the ability to upgrade to a paid subscription but not renew the trial period. What would be the best way to accomplish this?

Would it be setup a plan and have 'Allow New Subscriptions', 'Allow Registration' and 'Allow upgrade to this plan' set to disabled?

Yes, that's possible. Navigate to CBSubs > Plans > Your Plan > Access and set "Allow access from site frontend:" to "No: this plan is not visible in site, only in admin backend". Next navigate to CBSubs > Plans > Your Plan > Pricing and set "Renewable in advance by:" to "Non-renewable". This should give you the desired usage.
