[SOLVED] Grace period for members that were imported as "expired"

Hi,

I'd appreciate some help with my importing strategy.

I'm about to transfer all users from an existing WordPress site into my new Joomla site.

I prepared a csv file for JCJuice, and imports work just fine.

Then, in "Paid Subscriptions -> Import" I can import all registered users to a subscription plan, that works great, too.

Here's my issue: My customer is worried that they might lose members when the transfer process is not outstandingly simple (for the members). They'd like all members to have access to the site immediately, and offer them a grace period to pay the membership.

My idea is to import all members with status "expired", and ask them to renew their membership.

Is there a way to set a "grace period", i. e. to allow all "expired" members to log in until a certain date?

Thanks a lot!

You could copy your plan then edit it to have a short duration, no upgrades, no registrations, and no renewals. Then import them to it. This way they'd have the same benefits for whatever duration you want.

An alternative is to import them into your plan as active then subtract the duration you don't want them to have from their subscription date. For example if their subscription is supposed to last 1 year then start their subscription 11 months back and they should have just 1 months worth of subscription left.

Hi Kyle,

thank you very much for you advice.

I created a free plan, and importing members to this plan works fine.

The idea of this Free Plan is only to give the members (who were transferred from an another site) some time to register for the regular paid plan.

In the "User Profile -> Subscription tab" (as shown above), is it possible to include an "Upgrade button"?

Or - even better - once a member logs in, can a message be shown asking them to upgrade?

Thank you very much for you advice!

Hi Kyle,

sorry, I actually just figured it out. I can make plans "Non exclusive", and import members to both the free plan, and to the paid plan as "expired". Then, in their profile they see the update button I was looking for.

Thanks anyway for all your help!
