Upgrade from PHP 5.3.28 to PHP 5.5. Will it break anything?

Hi there

Some advice please. I have a very limited knowledge of PHP 5.5

Am about to move to a new server due my my Akeeba Backup component no longer providing support for PHP 5.3.28. My hosting company requires me to move to another server if I require a newer version of PHP.

I'm running on Joomla 3.4.1 and the latest version of Community Builder (2.0.8) and CBSubs ( 4.0.0-rc.2) along with a variety of CB Plugins.

Was just wondering whether it's safe to run on a server using PHP 5.5, or whether I should rather use PHP 5.4 to be safe? My other Joomla components are fairly commonplace (e.g. Acymailing) and are up to date.

Will my Community Builder, CBSubs and associated CB plugins continue to work ok?

What's the experience in the Joomla space regarding popular components running on PHP 5.5?

Thanks very much.

Yes, PHP 5.5 is fine for CB 2.x, CBSubs 4.x, and Joomla. Have been using PHP 5.5 for about a year now without issues.

That's great. Thanks very much Kyle.

I'm therefore assuming that any plugins I got off the Joomlapolis site that are working fine now on the Joomla / CB configuration I mentioned should therefore also continue to work OK in the aforementioned PHP 5.5. environment?

Best regards

Yes, I develop on PHP 5.5 so all of our plugins are developed and tested on PHP 5.5.
