Supply the database connection information for External mode and you should be able to connect to external databases fine. Substitutions are also supported in a Query field as well as Query action if needed.

Even to Oracle Database?

In a query field's back end > Parameters > Query you'll see an option "Mode". Setting it to "External" and filling in the blanks should do, no?


I have tried connecting to MySQL and it works.. but have you tried to connect to Oracle?

Are there anything i should setup on the server or oracle side to connect to Oracle?

I've no idea, try it. I've never tried connecting to an Oracle DB from Joomla/CB. If it doesn't work then continue using code field or action.
