We have groups of different categories that our members are in and we need to show the group names on the member profiles as a field e.g. Doctors, Lawyers, and then in another field the groups of another category. We need to store these values so that we can also send them via REST on update to firebase. How can we do that?

CB Query Field should be able to do that. You'd need to write the SQL to query for that information. What groups a user belongs to are in _groupjive_users. You'd need to join _groupjive_groups to get the group names and finally join _groupjive_categories to get the category names.
