Is there a way to suggest new connections, similar to Linkedin and Facebook?

CB has no such suggestion feature, sorry. You'd need to develop a new module or some other sort of extension to suggestion connections. It's possible something already exists however. I recommend checking the JED and Joomla.org.

Likely something to be added with CB 2.0 where we'll be redoing the connections system. No guarantees of course as we're still in design and discussion phases.
