It not only provides privacy controls for users to manually set (this is optional), but it also lets you disable profile edit of a field/tab entirely or disable profile edit of a field/tab for all non-moderators. It's multifunctional. :)

If I set it up to not being editable, then it also disappears from the profile view, which is not desirable, or did I do something wrong?

Setting CB Privacy to hide the fields profile edit has nothing to do with profile view. Please check that the field is set to display on profile and that the tab it is on is public and published at the very least.

Strange, I set it up again now, and now it displays the map fine in frontend, and not in edit, cool!
