HTML::selectList

12 years 2 months ago #191296 by adop
HTML::selectList was created by adop
I have this sql:
$sql="SELECT DISTINCT(area2_code), area2 FROM `cs_mytable`;";
and this SelectList:
$input['region']	=moscomprofilerHTML::selectList( $list_region, 'region', '', 'area2_code', 'area2', $selected);
I load the rows through loadAssocList(). The html generates the select block but the options statement do not pick up value and text.
I have also tried using 'value' and 'text' as follows but without success:
$sql="SELECT DISTINCT(area2_code) as 'value', area2 as 'text' FROM `cs_mytable`;";
$input['region']	=moscomprofilerHTML::selectList( $list_region, 'region', '', 'value', 'text', $selected);

Any suggestion how to fix it?

Thanks,

adop

It needs to be a key/value pair. Please try the below query.
SELECT `area2` AS text, DISTINCT( `area2_code` ) AS value FROM `cs_mytable`

It's best to test the query in phpmyadmin for example first to see if the query will ever work. You'll also need to load it in as an object list. Full usage example as follows.
$query		=	"SELECT `area2` AS text, DISTINCT( `area2_code` ) AS value FROM `cs_mytable`";
$_CB_database->setQuery( $query );
$list_region	=	$_CB_database->loadObjectList();

It is the usage of loadObjectList that makes the difference.

Thanks again Krileon
