Field edit option only to Administrators

I want a field which is read-only for the registered users and can be edited(for the registered users) by administrators in the back-end.How can I do that?

Just do it.

All read only fields can be edited from backend by admins.

i've tried....its showing a Not Authorized popup...??

Joomla version? CB version? You shouldn't receive "Not authorized" trying to edit a user from backend unless they are a usergroup above you. Note this is unrelated to setting a field to read only. Also note you can use CB Privacy to make a field moderator edit only and it'll allow moderators to edit the fields on frontend when editing other users profiles (will also be editable in backend of course).

Joomla version:2.5.6
CB version:1.8.1
I am logging in from superuser and the usergroup i am trying to edit is in registered and it is still showing Not Authorized
