I have a drop down box for selecting a state. The registration form is doing two things, showing a blank as the first entry (even though no such thing shows up in the back end) and it is showing 3 lines. Is it possible to get rid of the first blank and/or also adjust how many lines are shown in the drop down?

The blank entry is normal. If you've the field set to "Required" then they won't be able to register without first making a selection. Otherwise if it's not "Required" then they're free to not select anything at all.
