authenticate a CB user from an application was created by promulgate
Hello

We have an .net application developed for users and would really love to be able to connect from that application to our CB website as a logged in user.

I have been playing with autologin extensions.joomla.org/extensions/access-a-security/site-access/authentication-cloud-based/10508?qh=YToxOntpOjA7czo5OiJhdXRvbG9naW4iO30%3D

And it works great in accepting a username and password through an URL ( plain and encrypted). Just wondering is there any eloquent solutions out there for achieving this in a secure fashion?

At the moment manually imputing the username and the encrypted password into the .net application works.

Currently, no, not without some sort of custom solution (what you're using now seams fine). We've plans to implement oAuth or some other secure authentication API library in the future, but I can't say specifically when.

Yes - its just a question of scale and implementation really, at the moment when a new user registers on our CB site they would then then receive an email with their username and after that a second email instructing them on how to input the username and encrypted password into the .net app preferences area so when they simply click and be on the site logged in, I manually have to fetch the encrypted password from the MySQL DB to deliver the second email. In your opinion might there be a better way of achieving this?

Please put oAuth on the wish list alright, connecting systems will surely drive more business your way :)
