[SOLVED] Forgotten Password Link not working

When you were testing with default Joomla template did you receive a confirmation message or anything of the sort? You should be redirected back to a DONE or your home page with a message at the top stating the results such as an error or if was successful. Have you checked spam folder? Are you able to access mail server logs to see if the email is even being sent?

Hi again and thanks for help so far.
No sign of email being sent and nothing reported when registration sent.
If I register a new user email gets sent to user and admin.
Once confirmed another email gets sent to user so that function all works.
If I then request password for new user no email sent.
In registration on new user some error do occur

Interesting, please re-read my previous post and perform steps as instructed. Test must be done with default Joomla template as not all templates have the appropriate tags.

Hi again tested with default template and all plugins modules disabled except authentication,user and legacy if I disable legacy I get Direct Access to this location is not allowed. error.
Same thing straight back to index.php page.
No email attempt to be sent password same no attempt to change.

Hi again after lots of hacking around I think I have found the problem.
in my .htaccess file I had RedicrectMatch permanent ^/$ www.websiteurl.org/index.php
Removing the .htaccess file all together has allowed the forgotten login to work.
If I could only remember why I had put that in !! maybe when I was changing hosts.
