We follow the process. User get's email, click on link, fill in userid en psw. Then we get the message. I don't see what we are doing wrong.

Clicking the link should present the user with a page that they're now confirmed, but can't yet login as are awaiting admin approval. You should not be getting a login page. If you are then you've a misconfiguration with your CB Profile Joomla menu link (it must be public and published). Please see your documentation for proper configuration.

Problem solved. Thank you for the information. I believe that the account variable was the blocking factor. :P

For those interested the below thread is in regards to the "Account" variable mentioned above.

Some extensions will directly alter core Joomla tables (bad practice) and can results in issues such as this.
