We provide a current API documentation available in the free downloads section. I don't know what more to tell you; perhaps contracting it out for someone more experienced with CB usage is a better idea. CB Auto Actions won't work in every situation, but it certainly can provide hundreds of use cases without having to actually write code, which was the absolute purpose of it. What you're wanting to do (add backend columns) is an extremely basic CB plugin (trigger based), which I explain how to write in my tutorial (as well as a working and installable example).
