Tabs Changed Upon Setting System - Language Filter Publish

3 years 5 months ago - 3 years 5 months ago #321396 by eciudad
I found why the params was not showing:

It was on the configuration, under the user profile tab, "Allow CMS User Parameters" was set no.

eciudad wrote: "Suggest leaving it as "Site Language" then using the "Language Switcher" module to let users switch languages."

I did this and developed Menus for each of the below languages and tested them one by one with the "Language Switcher" :

English: Ok for GB NZ AU, and issues shown as stated earlier for US, CA
Spanish: light issues shown as stated earlier for Spain and no translation for CO
French: light issues shown as stated earlier CA and FR
Italian: light issues shown as stated earlier instead of translated language
Chinese: light issues shown as stated earlier plus English
Chinese Simplified: light issues shown as stated earlier plus English instead of translated language
Hindi: light issues shown as stated earlier plus English instead of translated language
German: light issues shown as stated earlier plus English for LI, LU, DE, CH and AT
Russian: light issues shown as stated earlier plus English instead of translated language
Arabic: light issues shown as stated earlier plus English instead of translated language
Portuguese: light issues shown as stated earlier plus English for BR and PO
Swahili: light issues shown as stated earlier plus English instead of translated language
Ukrainian: light issues shown as stated earlier plus English instead of translated language
Hebrew: light issues shown as stated earlier plus English instead of translated language

The params field still is not appearing with any of it choices and they are hidden.

The language that was displayed the results on my original message was a "English US".

Thank you

Now just need to resolve the matter on the languages above, if you have any idea how to solve them please let me know.

The Frontend Language field is just Joomlas Frontend Language field. So whatever it would output is all CB would output. It's options are based off what languages you've available in Extensions > Languages. CB will load whatever language Joomla tells it to. So it's important to have the necessary Joomla AND CB language plugins installed. For example if you want Spanish language supported you need a Joomla AND CB Spanish language plugin installed.

Also keep in mind our language plugins are community driven so they are not guaranteed to be 100% translated. This is explained on our localization page below. You're welcome to contribute to a language project if one is incomplete.

Spanish language project for example is only 2.9% translated.

The above was done and I continue to update frequently.

I do not mind to contribute if you explain me how can I be of assistance. Please break it down for me as If I can understand it, I should be able to explain to people that I know and speak or master the languages for them to help me on the task. It should be fun for them. I hope.

It's all done on Transifex. You'd need an account there and to apply to a project.

"PROFILE_ACTIVITY_FILTER_CONN - PROFILE_ACTIVITY_FILTER_GALLERIES - PROFILE_ACTIVITY_FILTER_GROUPS - PROFILE_ACTIVITY_FILTER_FOLLOWING "and "PROFILE_TAB_ABOUT" , "PROFILE_DETAILS, "PROFILE_DETAILS_EMAIL" , "PROFILE_TAB_ACCOUNT" , "PROFILE_TAB_DETAILS", "PROFILE_FIELD_BACKGROUND" , "PROFILE_TAB_NOTIFICATIONS"

so, the only way to map this correctly is on Transifex? There is no other way? I opened an account. Let's see what happened.

Is there a way to translate custom fields to multiple languages?

Those are already mapped correctly. They're provided by CB Quickstart. The only reason for their translations to be missing is CB Quickstart plugin is missing or not loaded for whatever reason. If your CB language plugin has not translated those strings they should display the default English strings. You can also use language overrides shown below and translate them yourself.

www.joomlapolis.com/blog/kyle/18701-language-overrides-have-arrived

Transifex is to contribute translations for the CB language plugins. So yes if the language plugin is incomplete you'd be able to contribute there.
