Facebook connect doesn't appear to do anything was created by tassierambler
I've just installed the latest version of FB Connect on my site (downloaded yesterday), I'm running Joomla 1.7.3 and CB1.7.1.

I followed all of the installation instructions, but when trying to use it (and I've tried on three different computers using various browsers) and generally a blank window pops up, then closes again, my website refreshes, but nothing happens.

A couple of times, I have actually had a Facebook login come up in the pop up, but after I enter my facebook login, again nothing happens and the main browser window just refreshes.

Any ideas what I can do? The site is www.tscc.org.au

FBC 1.5 and all previous versions will no longer work. This is because Facebook suddenly dropped support for previous API even though they stated developers had until March 2012. FBC 1.6 is already in for review and documentation to be released before end of this week that is upgraded to support Facebooks new API.

Incubator project CB Connect already has this issue resolved. As a professional subscriber you of course have access to it.

Thanks for the prompt response, and I see that FBC V1.6 is now available. Just as feedback though, I installed V1.6, but it still behaves exactly the same, ie. it doesn't work.
I might go and try this CB Connect instead.

... actually, I've just installed CB Connect and I get exactly the same problem with it.

Hello,

so do I, CB Connect (installed yesterday) does not seem to work. The log in to facebook in the background works, but then the process stops.

Likely a fatal JS error from some sort of conflict. Please review your browser error log when interacting with the buttons. It's also possible your Facebook Application is not setup to use the oAuth2 API. Facebook will be forcing this soon. Navigate to your Application on Facebook and ensure the below is set.

Edit Settings > Advanced

Remove Deprecated APIs: Enabled
Stream post URL security: Disabled
Timezone-less events: Enabled
Upgrade to Requests 2.0: Enabled
Require manage_notifications: Enabled
Include recent activity stories: Enabled
Encrypted Access Token: Enabled
Requests 2.0 Efficient: Disabled
Enhanced Auth Dialog: Enabled
page_hours_format: Disabled
Graph Batch API Exception Format: Disabled
