Thanks for this... my skills are clearly lacking. I've tried to implement this change but nothing I've tried has worked so far. How would I go about it? I have the trigger in place; the rest is a bit of a mystery to me.

Probably something like the below.
Global
Triggers: gj_onGroupMessage
Type: CB Activity
User: Self
Access: Everybody
Action
Mode: Activity
Method: Create
Asset: groupjive.group.[var_id]
Load By: None
That should create a new activity entry every time a group message is made. Add any further details you like such as conditions, message text, etc..
