Sometimes, due to a PHP error, scripts stop working without displaying an error, leading you to a blank page.
In that case, to find out what is the real cause, youu should do the following:
- Check server error logs (not access logs) if you have access to them.
- Go to your Joomla Administration panel, Site --> Global Configuration --> System Tab and turn on Site Debugging, then try reloading page, and check page source (HTML source). Don't forget to turn site debug off again after you have finished.
- if it the blank page is outside CB (no "option=com_comprofiler" in URL), e.g. in joomla during installation, add following to the index.php (or index2.php, whichever is in the URL) in frontend or backend where it gives you a blank page, just after the first "<?php" in that file:
ini_set( 'display_errors', true ); error_reporting( E_ALL );
- Check your web server error log for errors generated by your website. You might be able to locate the culprit by identifying the logged error.
- Often, it's due to lack of memory, see other relevant links below.
With the identified error message at hand, often there is a file reference that allows you to spot the problem in a component, module, CB plugin or other extension.
Search this forum with a part of error message, sometimes others had same problems, and solutions are posted.

You should install CB Plugins (including CB Language plugins) using the CB Plugin Manager installer and not the Joomla installer (used to install Joomla extensions, modules, plugins, templates and language packages).
If you try and install a CB Plugin using the Joomla installer you will see a message similar to:
"JInstaller: :Install: Cannot find Joomla XML setup file"
This message is generated by Joomla and it tells you that the package you are trying to install via the Joomla installer does not have a Joomla XML file in it. Of course it doesn't, as it is not a Joomla package. It is a CB Plugin package that needs to be installed using the CB Plugin Manager.
On the other hand if you try to install a Joomla module (e.g., the CB Login module) using the CB Manager installer you will get a message similar to:
"ERROR: Could not find a CB XML setup file in the package"
This message is generated by CB and it tells you that the package you are trying to install is not a CB Plugin package. This will happen if you try and install a Joomla module (e.g., the CB Login module) or a Joomla System or a Joomla Search (e.g. CB Search) or a Joomla Content Plugin (e.g. CB Content) using the CB Manager installer instead of the Joomla extension installer.
Please use the Joomla extensions installer instead. Typically, Modules, Components, Joomla Templates, Joomla Languages, Joomla system and content plugins should not be installed using the CB Plugins installer.

If you encounter situations where it appears that emailing is not being process, sent or delivered by a CB workflow, then please investigate the following:
- Make sure emailing works from Joomla backend (e.g., test Joomla mass mailing to your super admin group)
If it does not, then you need to focus and getting emailing working here and once fixed, CB emailing issue should also get resolved. - If Joomla emailing works then retest the CB mailing process with a destination email address you have access to and control. Make sure that email is also not sent to this controlled address and make sure you check in your spam folder alsso. If you find the email then everything is working and most likely your user did not check his/her spam box folder or something specific o the user's email service end is blocking receipt or email.
- If Joomla emailing works then turn on Joomla debug and retest the CB mailing action that you feel is failing. With Joomla debug on you might see relevant error messages that are causing the issue.
- Check your server error log for relevant messages
If all above do not help you resolve the issue, then post ALL relevant information and steps taken above starting a new thread in our Free, Adavanced, Professional or Developer support forums.
For better response times from the CB Team members please consider upgrading your free membership.

If you are trying to install the Community Builder component (com_comprofiler.zip package) and get the following error message:
"Unable to find install package"
Then most likely your php 'upload_max_filesize' or 'post_max_size' parameter is set to 2M.
Check with your web hosting provider for instructions on how to increase your php 'upload_max_filesize' and 'post_max_size' parameters to at least 4M.
At this point we suggest that you go back and study the CB Primer Book.

Community Builder has built-in anti-spoofing security measures that rely on time sensitive settings to identify potential issues with session hijacking.
If you are seeing any "invalid session" error messages, then you need to first make sure that all your time zone related settings are correct:
- Server time zone
- etc.
You can turn-off these extra CB measures by accessing the 'Enable anti-spoofing sessions checks' parameter in the CB Configuration -> Integration tab area.
