I think I've tried every single newsletter component for Joomla. Joomlailing is simply the best : easy and powerful.
The ability to categorize users in seconds is definitly a killer feature.

I've installed 1.0.3 (careful:you have to go to the developper's web site to download it!) and tried it on my web site. It's quite simple to administrate and has got a great potential, but still need to be improved. I also noticed an overall slowing-down of my Joomla web site after I've installed the component (something wrong in the core?), and a little bit of missing bits with IT language - but tha's not a big problem anyway!

This is actually a brief comment on the paid-for enterprise version of Acymailing, which has more features than the cost-free one mentioned here.
Having said that, I think it was worth every penny! The product support is second to none - I came across a slight bug, and the developer released a fix in response within a couple of days.
This will do autoresponders (creating automatic follow-up messages of new registrants, for example), newsletters, email campaigns and pretty much includes all you need for email marketing.
I usually don't go overboard with praise, but this component is worth it.
