CB "Public Mail" plugin enables visitors and unregistered users on your site to email the registered users directly from their CB profile page through a small contact form that can be styled and customized.
The plugin is great if your CB profiles are companies, teachers, artists, musicians, shops, vendors, suppliers etc. or you simply want to let site visitors contact sites users/profiles without being registered.
The registered users' email address may be kept secret if wanted, and it is possible to save all emails sent by users in the database, thereby also registering the sending IP.
The admin can also choose to receive a copy of the emails as "BCC".
Also, a copy of a sent email can be sent to the submitter along with a "thank you" email, if wanted.
This CB plugin has support for CB Captcha and can be configured/styled a lot! It comes with 9 languages and 3 optional extra fields.

Public mail is excellent plugin, but it does not work with CB 1.2 RC3, any plans lately to upgrade the version of plugin?

Thanks, the new version is MUCH better.
The Public Mail 1.2 does work with CB 1.2, BUT there is a bug in CB that currently prevents the installer from working. To fix this simply open the Public Mail installer XML and change the version numer of the plugin to 1.1 or less. Eg.: "1.1". Otherwise you will have to wait for the next CB release where this is hopefully fixed.
Great form. Uses Captcha as well, so good for the security.
Only bug that got me was when in the main tab section, even if you enter the correct captcha info, you get an incorrect security code error. Seems ok if left in the middle or to the right, as long as you don't use the button option. If there is a fix for that, it would be 100%.

I am unable to confirm this error on CB 1.4 (and the new version of Public Mail 1.3). I think your bug has to do with the Joomla or CB template and not the plugin.
Perfect for my application. Is there a way to 'cc' all emails sent to a common admin address??

I got it to work, yet there is no possibilities for a captcha for CB 1.1 (the only captcha we can use with it is the 2.2 version which is not compatible with CB1.1).

Does this plugin work with joomla 1.0 or only for joomla 1.5 native?

Excellent plugin, I have seen it working. Unfortunately I can't install it. I'm using J 1.5.8 and CB 1.2 RC 4. I downloaded it and when trying to install it, I got this message: Error! Could not find a Joomla! XML setup file in the package.

Use the CB plugin installer and not the Joomla installer!
Says works with cb 1.1 but the following error is received "Plugin version (1.2) different from Community Builder version (1.1)"

I get the followin error: Could not insintiate Email when trying to send an e-mail to a user and there is no way to fix it !

Why would you even mention this when it is either your webhost or Joomla mail configuration that is wrong?
With the simple little fix of changing it to version 1.0 in the xml it works fine with latest CB.

Easy to install. Works as described. Using Joomla Version 1.5.10 and CM 1.2.1 on PHP 5.2.9 on an Apache server. Although not using the Captcha function.

This is a nice plugin. It is exactly what I was looking for, because I wanted unregistered users to mail registered users.
Only problem is that Captcha aint working...

It does the job, there is one spelling mistake on the "copy of email" that goes to the senders inbox. It says "sendt".
I really recommend this, great plugin for public and users to email through to registered users. Avoids email harvesting I think (could someone confirm this?). Good job, thanks!

This is a very good plug-in. I could use it within minutes. the captcha field should be by default and not removable... I used it one week without captcha and my users were spammed in no time.
One great addition would be to authorize in the plugin management to allow each user to decide if he can be contacted or not, using their configuration panel....
