Every time I try to install a 3rd party plugin I get an error message along the lines of " direct access to this area not allowed" after the plugin has installed. any ideas what that is about.

Search this forum for phrase"

direct access

and see responses I have personally given before.

As I responded elsewhere (and once again here) you are most likely trying to install a 3rd party plugin that is not Joomla 1.5 native on a Joomla 1.5 site that does not have legacy enabled.

Difficult really to pinpoint exactly what is wrong since you have neglected to state basic elements of your environment and problem like:

- what joomla version?
- what cb version?
- what 3rd party plugin?
- what PHP version?
- is legacy enabled?

Once again - to all reading this - this is not a rant - just one more cry to make things easy for people to help you - PLEASE POST DETAILS.

Thank you.

These versions do not work with Joomla 1.5.

New versions have not been publicly released yet - at the moment release candidate versions of these specific plugins (and more) are available to documentation subscribers.

Someone needs to talk to the people at joomla.org then. What they have up on their site is, for instance for the CB gallery plugin, v1.2RC2 which they are saying is for joomla 1.0 and 1.5 native. The link, however, takes you to a download for version 1.0 of the plugin.

From the Joomla.org listing ...

Version 1.2 RC2 is also Joomla 1.5.X native compatible (currently available for CB documentation subscribers)
