gender specific avatar in 1.2.1 implemented?

Hi there,
I just wanted to ask if the gender specific avatar is already implemented in the new version 1.2.1?
I know the thread with the workaround by modification:

However this is not an elegant version and as this is a feature I really think which is a basic in current times I was wondering if there is a smoother solution with the new version? Also this workaround doens't really help woth all plugins or extensions as I have notices that the gender is not checked e.g. with Jreviews or last visitor tab?! Any tip would be highly appreciated!

No this has not been implemented. It might be for a later version, but at this time it is not a priority.
