Filter NULL not working? was created by jakobe75
I am having an issue with userlists.

I have a field called "Club Name"

this field is avaialble to edit by only certain users depending on their CB subs subscription.

but this field is avaialble for the general public to view.

I have a menu button pointing to a list called "clubs"

I have my filer setup as

Club Name is not NULL

This should show all of the users who DONT have an empty club field right?

But it is still showing users who have empty club fields.?

the other filer settings seem to work fine as I have other userlists that are being filtered by state or lessthan/equal too type filters.

and they are doing their job perfectly.

according to the documentation manual I am setting this up the proper way.

suggestions?

okay I think I got it.

the built in filter function doesnt work for this
or it is not clearly explained in the documentation on how to set it up for IS NOT NULL

If you want to filter a list and ONLY show users who HAVE filled out a particular field.

Then in the filter section of the list edit page
select the advanced radio button.

then add:

`cb_desiredfieldname` IS NOT NULL AND `cb_desired fieldname` != ""

This will only show the users who HAVE filled out that field.

usage example:
If you are using CB subs, and a each sub level only has access to certain fields then this is an easy way to grab those users and display them in a list.

I wish the documentation manual was more detailed about the IS NOT NULL subject.

I found the answer fully posted here
