I am planning on running several Joomla sites on a shared server and have all the sites share the same CB users. The users do not need to be able to login from different sites, but their profiles must be accessible through every site.

I am pretty sure that this is not a supported configuration, but needs a hack. Any comments on the following:

1) Replace all but one CB and user tables by updateable views to the remaining set of tables

2) Modifying Joomla/CB code to point to one set of CB and user tables

3) Have separate databases and write a synchronization plugin

I don't think it would be very easy to accomplish. The database joomla accesses is stored in the configuration file, so you would need to rewrite most of community builder to get access to different databases.

All the $database variables need to removed and be replaced by the code to access the same database while the main page still access the normal database.

I am pretty sure that the option 1 would be easy to implement if the mysql version supports updateable views.

I will propably set up such a solution in a couple of months if better solutions do not come around.

Yes, but you have to do this at the database level, so some expertise is needed.
