Integrating game mechanics into my website

Integrating game mechanics into my website was created by stockypotty
Hello,

I am currently developing a university student website that will contain original sketches based on student life, amongst many other content.

One idea I had was to integrate game mechanics into the website, for 3 reasons:

1- Get users to explore the site
2- Get users to come back to the site
3- Help to promote the site

The game mechanics I was going to have was an experience and item achievement based system.

What I mean is this:

Users will have a profile they sign in with.

When they do certain actions, they will receive EXP points to go towards their profile. So:

- A user comments on a video - ** BING 10+ EXP **

- A user shares a video from your site to their Facebook profile using the social bookmarking tools ** BING 100+ EXP **

- A user joins the sites facebook fan page ** BING 200 + EXP **

When these actions are done, the idea is there to be an actual EXP 200+ text pop up, and for a *BING* sound to be played.

Items will be created in photoshop which users will receive when they do certain actions. For example if a user visits all of the pages on the site, they get an item that gets added to their profile for other users to see.

Does anyone know if this is possible by using CB? I found this CB extension that seems to be on the right tracks: www.nordmograph.com/en/downloads/details/73/6/other-feat.-products/alphauserpoints-cb-plugin.html

However it doesn't seem very functional

Thanks for reading everyone

* EDIT *

An example of this can be seen at foursquare.com/

When you visit the site you see a feed where people are earning badges in real time.

You can then click and check out the badges etc:

And you can then check to see what user has what badges:

This is amazing and I really hope this can be achieved

This is not something CB provides. I recommend reviewing the extension AlphaUserPoints. However, you will still need CB for the profile aspect of your site. AlphaUserPoints does not use Experience but it uses Points. It also offers ranks/badges based off those points so a simple rename via language strings would result in Experience like you're wanting. For more details I recommend contacting the extensions developers.
